Brindisi è da sempre una porta verso il Mediterraneo e verso l'Oriente. Da qui sono passati i greci ed i romani, di cui sono numerose le testimonianze. Anche il famoso Oriental Express passava da qui per raggungere paesi al di là del mare. Il poeta Virgilio ha vissuto in una piccola casa sull'omonima scalinata, proprio dove si ergevano maestose le colonne che segnavano il termine della famosa Appia Antica. Brindisi has always been a gateway to the Mediterranean and to the East. From here passed the Greeks and Romans, of which there are numerous testimonies. The famous Oriental Express train also passed through our town to reach countries across the sea. The poet Virgil lived in a small house on the homonymous stairs, in the exact point where the Romans columns marked the end of the famous Appia Antica.
