The Istanbul Cafe and Bar is a great place to smoke a hookah

The owner there is extremely kind, the atmosphere is fantastic, and it is the best hookah in Dalyan. Make sure you go on a clear night though! The outside seating is the best part!

Swim suits

Normal swim suits are fine and accepted, our advice is to pack more than one! When you go on a boat tour, you want to bring at least two (especially for the girls) because you will be going from salt to fresh water. It also makes lounging on the boat much more relaxing.

Dalyan is Very English Friendly

Don't be too nervous about not speaking Turkish. We go there often and hear a lot of English, and most of the people at the bars can chat in English!

How to say 'Hello' in Turkish

"Merhaba" (Mer-hab-ah). Locals will love if you try to say a few things, it always gets a few smiles!

Consider skipping the crabbing

A long time ago, Dalyan used to be full of huge blue and red crabs. Over-fishing has made them scarce. Unfortunately, many tourist guides will invite you to go crabbing. We suggest not doing so, as it is hurting the ecology of the waters.
