Anglesey Abbey is a National Trust property with wonderful house, grounds and a working water mill. It's extremely good for spring and autumn flowers.

This is one of my favourite gardens. The dry garden is a real lesson in how to plant gardens that don't rely on water. Good all year round.

Everyone should visit this museum to understand a bit more about polar research. Its not very big but do find time to add to your things to do in Cambridge.

I absolutely love visiting IWM Duxford. It has many fantastic open days and often we see spitfires flying over us as they fly out of Duxford most weekends. One of my favourite places in the museum is in Hanger 1 where they have cabinets full of medals donated by families. Each tray tells you about the lives of the medal recipitant which really brings them back to life. You can also find Concord in there which is such an iconic plane. Further into the museum you can look into the control room where on the wall you can see the names of the local airfields, Stradishall (next door to Cowlinge Hall) being one of them. Norley Moat House was the officers mess during the second world war so i like to think of the young men who having returned from their flight headed up there to have a relaxing meal before they had to get ready again for action. Right at the end of the sight is Hanger 8. It is full of tanks and information about the local regiments which i always find really interesting.

Sightseeing

Do visit the ruins of the Abbey at Bury St Edmunds. I grew up playing on the ruins and its celebrating it's 1000 years in 2020! The knights met here to draw up the Magna Carta so its very special. Do also go into the Cathedral whilst you are nearby. There is a wonderful statue of King Edmund by Elizabeth Frink just outside it.

Activities

Do try and see a performance at The Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds. It is the sole surviving example of a Regency playhouse in the country.
