Poetry is music to my ears. I visit here not just for poetry, but to enjoy the open mic portion as well as the jazz bands.

I lay out here in the summers. People watching by day and star gazing by night. Beautiful. You can have a picnic, take a boat ride, have a meal, sun bathe, cycle, or just read a novel.

If you’re not afraid of crowds I’d recommend coming here. You can catch a movie, have your face sketched, grab a bite, or just stare at the lights. It’s beautiful at night. MTV is also located here.

Very trendy! It’s a mini Manhattan. Several bars & eateries. Taco trucks! Lots of thrift stores. You can find some staple pieces that you won’t find anywhere else. The ambiance in Williamsburg will make you smile.

5th Avenue. Need I say more. Just start at Flatbush Avenue and work your way down. You will find a melting pot of food options. From Greek, to Italian, Caribbean, Mediterranean, Latin, and the list goes on.

Great night life here. There’s so many options open at night. Eateries (Melbas, Sylvias, Corner Social), Lounges, and Jazz! Live bands anyone??! Street parking is tight, but with some patience you will find a spot.

Ukuhamba nezingane

Subway system

If traveling on the subways try to travel when it isn’t rush hour. It can be brutal finding seats and for little people it can be frightening. For safety - My recommendation would be to sit in the first car because the Motorman is in that car and the middle because the Conductor is in that car. You can find the conductor prior to the train pulling in by looking above your head for a black and white board- he will always be aligned with that board.
Okufanele ukupakishe

Sightseeing gear

A back pack, waters, a portable charger, subway map, good tennis shoes, and a positive attitude.
Ungaphuthelwa

Farmers market at Prospect Park- Saturday’s year round 8-4

I’d take a stroll in the park first and then grab some cider, homemade jam, cookies, and cakes. You can head across the street and have a seat in front of the Library. There’s several tables and benches outdoors.

Theatres

You haven’t visited NY if you did not see a play on Broadway.
