Wildlife and walking

The whole family loves a good walk (Keith is especially happy if there is a pub at the beginning, middle, end or any combination). Holly may have little legs but she can easily manage 5km so the walks listed here are around 3-5km, many can be adapted to be shorter.

9 minutes drive. Thornham is a lovely place to walk (unless it’s very windy). The elevated path on top of the sea defences provides fabulous views of the surrounding marsh. There are several of benches on the way to the beach if you need a rest or a snack. This is also a great area for bird watchers especially if you can brave the winter chill, you’re likely to be rewarded with sightings of some special seasonal visitors.

Be comfortable.

Even in summer, it’s wise to pack a jumper and rain jacket. The coastal climate is a few degrees cooler than the rest of central U.K. We are prone to higher winds which can also cool things down. In winter we recommend wellies if you want dry feet outdoors.
