My husband and I regularly have breakfast at Gail’s Bakery in Hove. They also sell excellent breads and baked goods. Not the cheapest but the quality shines through. Also good as a coffee stop.

Combine a trip on the train with a walk to Brighton Marina especially when you have small children. If you fancy a longer walk you can get off at the half way station. There is a brand new walkway which follows the railway along the beach to the marina.

A short car bus or bike ride will take you to Devils Dyke. The views are beautiful and there are a number of walking/biking trails. There is also a pub should you wish to grab a bite to eat or a coffee.

The Royal Pavilion, and surrounding gardens, also known as the Brighton Pavilion, is a Grade I listed former royal residence. It is the most iconic building in Brighton. It is free to walk around the outside of the building and very pleasant to place to enjoy a picnic lunch. There is also a great play area which is suitable for younger children. Good place to go if you have an hour or so to fill. Our grandchildren ages 3-11 always enjoy going here.
