Segway Tours of Anchorage
I have not ridden them but they are out and about all summer long. They ride by here showing off this building and the Eisenhower Memorial across the street. There is a tour of Anchorage and "they say" it is not that hard to ride them. I couldn't find a web sight but it is easy to do a search. The tour starts only a block away.

Google hiking areas in Anchorage. There is an extensive trail system in Anchorgae for walkers, runners and bicycles. One of the most popular is the Coastal trail only 2 blocks away. Not far from town are mountain trails of vaying degrees of dificulty, but most of them are kid friendly. Bring bells to let the critters know your there and bring bear spray just in case.
