NEW OnDemand service launched August 2, 2022
OnDemand Transit (ODT) is a public transit service in which customers can book their trip dynamically in real time using an app, online or calling customer service.
The primary difference between the previous service and the new ODT service is the adoption of a “stop-to-hub” versus “any stop-to-any stop” model. While the past model was seeking to provide ODT service to as many stops as possible and keep the service transfer free, it was not sustainable with a limited number of buses and city wide ODT service. With the “stop-to-hub” model, fewer stops are available, however customers within the service area are better served. Trips are more effectively pooled and bus capacity is dedicated to the four (4) neighbourhoods, ensuring riders in these areas have transit service they can rely on.
This model relies on connections to and from transit hubs in which riders can integrate their ODT trip with a fixed route.
