Don’t miss a visit to this lighthouse. The view of the coast and water is spectacular and well worth the time and effort. Don’t forget to take your binoculars. Great spot for sightseeing with a chance to see the occasional whale, seals etc. During the summer months there is a small museum manned with students who will tell you all about the lighthouse and marine Enviroment surrounding the site.

Portion sizes can be pretty large. Unless you have a huge appetite consider sharing a large seafood platter which will still be a large meal. Try one of their great pies for desert. Ask for it to be as a take out so that you can make some space for it later in the evening.

One of the best fine dining restaurants East of Montreal, Beautifully cooked food and beautifully presented on your plate. Exceptional value for money compared to most city fine dinning of similar standard. Best to book well in advance to avoid disappointment. In fact best to book a table as soon as you book the Carriage House. You will not be disappointed. Unlikely to find a table if you leave it too late.

Great little takeout but can get very busy in the peak summer months. Neil’s top tip is to view the menu sometime and then call in your order. 506 755 2660. Check it out on TripAdvisor. Our favorites are fish and chips (real proper chips) and chicken strips, but it all gets great reviews. Famous for their burgers and milkshakes. It’s a “eat in your car” or outside in the area laid out with tables and chairs, but the food is great. In busy times good idea to call your order in ahead as the wait time can be up to an hour. Located on the Main Street in St George. Great ice cream and sundaes. Beware the large sizes. Likely their child size will be adequate for most........but then again, maybe not. Pete’s is usually the busiest place in town and open from 2pm to 9pm, but good idea to check their Facebook page first if in doubt.

The Chandler Room at the Treadwell Inn is very popular for its tapas style menu. Always gets great reviews although we personally have never eaten there.

468 Maces Bay Road, Maces Bay,NB (506) 978-1009 Great spot for a great pizza. Small family run operation, from a small family home (in their garage)using top quality ingredients. Worth the drive if you take the scenic route going by Pennfield, New River beach and onto Maces Bay. Take a good appetite with you for one of these “bad boys”!

Historic Building

Worth a visit when in St Andrews. The Algonquin Hotel is a unique hotel building and Marriott Hotels only Signature resort in Canada. The restaurant does very good food for lunch and dinners.
