Hike Up Silver Lake Mountain
Silver Lake Mountain is a short 0.9-mile hike between Black Brook and Union Falls in Clinton County in the northern Adirondack Park. The trail is entirely on public Forest Preserve in the Taylor Pond Wild Forest area. The trail is short, but steep and the ranging Silver Lake Mountain summit offers a splendid view of the many ponds and lakes in the valleys below and of neighboring peaks and cliffs.

Weather Warning
A word of caution on the Weather.
The summits of the high peaks are exposed, windy, and temps can be 10-15 degrees colder than the trail heads. The weather in the high peaks can change at any time, especially at altitude. Snow, sleet, and freezing temps can occur any time of the year even during the summer.
If planning a summit adventure, we recommend everyone carry the below listed "ten essentials" including warm layers, shells, and gloves. If you need any further info on high peaks weather visit the DEC high peaks web sites and follow the advice keep an eye on the weather forecast.
