Exploring
It's a 35-40 minute drive to the West Glacier park entrance. We recommend getting a very early start as some of the parking lots can fill up before 8am. Check out this link from the GNP website for advice:

Take a drive up Going to the Sun Road for epic scenery to Logan Pass. Be sure to check the road status on the national park website. Going to the Sun road is usually cleared of snow and open to cars by mid June. Before then, you can cross country ski on the road, and then bike the road on the weekends starting in May when the road is still closed to cars. https://www.nps.gov/applications/glac/roadstatus/roadstatus.cfm

Polebridge is a beautiful 1 hour drive from our house, through Columbia Falls and up the North Fork road along the river. Polebridge has another entrance to Glacier National Park where you can access Bowman Lake and Kintla Lake and numerous hiking trails.
The Mercantile is a quintessential bakery and shop in this one lane town. It is a must see! They have delicious huckleberry bear claws and a variety of other treats for sale.

It will save you time and frustration with the traffic on Going to the Sun Road and lack of parking at Logan Pass. Also it allows you to sight see as much as possible on this epic drive through the park! Check the GNP website for shuttle schedules.

Tuesday Farmers Market
The Whitefish Farmers market is a really fun event held next to downtown at the depot park just south of the train station. It runs from May 25 - September 28 from 5-7:30pm. Usually there is some live music, several local farms selling fresh veggies and fruits, and food trucks for dinner.
