Things to do in Canggu and Beyond
• Surfing
• Canggu has gained popularity among surfers as a longboard-friendly surf spot, one of the few spots on the island.
• Enjoy the Rice Fields
• Canggu is actually known for its 'paddy fields’ and serene lush environment present¬ing a relaxing atmosphere of dining, cultural and beach activities. The main Canggu streets are Jalan Batu Bolong, Jalan Padang Linjong, Jalan Batu Mejan and Jalan Tanah Barak. Here you will find beautiful temples surrounded by rich landscapes. One can walk or bike along the paddies, smell the fresh dew in the early mornings, or behold the terraces of fresh greens. Take a ride along the northern end of Jalan Pantai Pererenan in the late afternoon where the paddy scenery is most beautiful. Sunset is around 18:00 -19:00 depending on the season.
• The Beaches
Pantai Berawa is a black sand beach that landscapes the largest lagoon along the Canggu coastline. Here you can find nice cafes and restaurants and great surf given the right conditions.
Batu Bolong is the high street of Canggu where you find loads of healthy cafes and restaurants, shops, hip venues and the happening bar where the road meets the ocean, Old Mans. This beach is a favorite for long boarders and is a great place to learn how to surf.
Echo Beach is the main beach attraction in the Canggu area. There are many little beach shacks where you can order a coconut and some food, chill on a bean bag and watch surfers on this world class wave spot. Though it often gets very windy here, this spot is busy with surfers from all around the world. If you're looking to swim or just want to learn how to surf, walk south to the Old Man's area where the surf is far calmer.
Pererenan Beach is another place to escape the crowds. Pererenan is a quick walk over the rocks leading you to a nice quiet beach, stretching for kilometers with no end – a perfect walk for sunset and a place to interact with the local community.
Seseh Beach is further west and is much more secluded offering horse riding tours for a sunset beach ride. This beach offers a similar vibe to Pererenan Beach with black sand and a chance to hang with the locals.
