Charley Young, Kamaole I, II, & III Beaches are all located just a few steps or a couple blocks from both our condos. There is good snorkeling, boogie boarding and tanning here. Grab a boogie board or snorkel gear from our closet and get wet or grab a beach chair and beach umbrella to just relax!

Activities
Surf and Stand Up Paddle Board:
Because ocean conditions in Kihei tend to be somewhat calmer than on the rest of Maui, it’s a great place to learn the ropes in a relatively predictable environment. Check out Kihei Cove, a favorite spot of both the beginner and intermediate crowd. Swells here can roll in 100 yards or more and are ideal for surfers and SUP-ers alike. And because we know you want to concentrate on having fun and not worry about dragging your equipment with you, we suggest renting a top-quality board from Island Surfboard Rentals. They offer professional advice and recommendations and even have free delivery and pick-up. You can also take surfing lessons with Maui Wave Riders, right next door to our Island Surf condo. They have a great staff and a cameraman who will take great pictures of you riding the waves. The park also has two beach volleyball courts (you can use our volleyball to play a game of your own), basketball courts, a skate park, and a great walking path along the water.

Hiking on Maui:
There are several trails and pathways for hikes from easy to hard and many of them have ocean views and sunrises:
1. Haleakala National Park: a 19 miles point-to-point hike. You will need to purchase a day pass to hike this park
2. Wailea Beach Path: a 3.5 miles hike on a mixture of paved sidewalk/boardwalk and beach trails. You get spectacular views of the Wailea beaches and sunset, no reservations or fees required. You will need to drive appx 10 mins from our condo to the location: 4000 Wailea Alanui Dr, Ste. 102, Maui, HI 96753
3. Makawao Forest Reserve: Makawao Forest Reserve is a 2,093 acres reserve located in upcountry Maui. All hiking levels are possible here, with various loops of trails to follow. No reservations or fees. You will need to drive appx 45 mins from our condo to the location: Kahakapao Rd, Makawao, HI 96768.
4. Dragon’s Teeth: with a 0.5 mile hike and a 75’ elevation gain, this is a unique lava formation trail along Makaluapuna Point. No reservations or fees. You will need to drive about 1 hour from our condo to the location: From Hwy 30 in West Maui, turn makai (toward the sea) on Office Road toward the Ritz-Carlton resort. Turn right when Office Road dead-ends into Lower Honoapi’ilani Road. Follow Lower Honoapi’ilani Road for a short way and turn left into a small parking area for the Dragon’s Teeth. This trailhead has no services.

Want to hike and have a beach all to yourselves? Travel to where the road meets the ocean. Le Parouse is just 10-15 mins away from our condos and has great hiking trails. You travel towards the end of the hiking trail and you will find a nice quiet beach all to yourself. The most amazing seashells on this beach and great for snorkeling and seeing certain sea life that you can only find in Hawaii.

La Perouse Bay
Want to hike and have a beach all to yourselves? Travel to where the road meets the ocean. Le Parouse is just 10-15 mins away from our condos and has great hiking trails. You travel towards the end of the hiking trail and you will find a nice quiet beach all to yourself. The most amazing seashells on this beach and great for snorkeling and seeing certain sea life that you can only find in Hawaii.
Explore the Dragon’s Teeth trails to see lava that has formed to look like dragons teeth. With the high elevation, you will see a spectacular oceanic views. The trails are on the easier side so it is perfect for all levels, from small children to adults. Be sure to get your camera ready!
