Fishing and Hiking

Here is a list of places to see with links. https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/asnf/home/?cid=stelprdb5211181 Main site for Apace Sitegreaves National Forrest- Here you can navigate to fishing lakes, boating hiking etc. Note that the Black Mesa ranger station is only a mile away from the cabin. There you can pick up maps with interseting forrest drives to veiw petroglyphs and historic sites. I highy suggest the following lakes for fishing. Willow Lake is only about a ½ hour drive from the cabin. There you can rent small boats for fishing. Here is the link for that lake info. https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/asnf/recarea/?recid=45185 Also close by is Black Canyon Lake only 20 minutes away, but no rentals or concnesions there. The lake is a bit smaller but you can fish from the shore. Keep in mind all lakes above the Mogollon Rim are Alpine lakes and are relatively small. https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/asnf/recreation/fishing/recarea/?recid=44939&actid=42 Another fun lake is Fools Hollow Lake near Show Low which is about 40 minutes to the east. It is not in the National Forrest but is very poplular State park lake. https://www.azstateparks.com/fool-hollow Here is the Hiking link for Apache Sitgraeves Forrest. https://www.fs.usda.gov/activity/asnf/recreation/hiking
Best barbecue in town! Highly recommended. A little hard to find but well worth the effort.
