Sightseeing
I found these lists online of the majority of attractions that you can find in NYC. Feel free to use it to get ideas of places that you might want to see. The city is very large and public transportation takes a chunk of your time. I recommend that you concentrate on sectors each day. Do all the sightseeing that area has to offer and you will get to see more because you will be saving a lot of traveling time. Remember rush hours for work are between 6am to 9:30am an 4:30pm to 7pm and trains will be packed around those times. Nights and weekends Train maintenance is done and there are service changes which might cause train delays or longer travel times.
Example Itinerary:
Day 1 - Downtown and SOHO
Day 2 - Midtown West , middle and and East sides
Day 3 - Central Park area, the zoo, biking, picnic or walking tours
Day 4 - Upper East side and MET museum Day 5 - Upper West Side, Natural Museum of History, Guggenheim Museum
Day 6- Brooklyn and Queens
Day 7 - Staten Island Ferry and malls.
If you trip is short you can always combine areas on same day based on what you really want to see.
