Good ale and friendly people
If you love good ales and gin then a visit to our microbrewery is a must. Sit outside and watch the world go be or indoors to meet some of the locals.
Here at The Tankerton Arms we pride ourselves in serving good local beers, ciders and wine with good company and conversation, the former helping the latter. We stock a range of local beers, mainly from local microbreweries, but also some from further afield. Our aim is to encourage an atmosphere where real ale and real conversation come together. In addition to well-kept beers, we offer local ciders and a selection of good wine available.

Wheelers Oyster Bar was founded in 1856 by a man called Richard Leggy Wheeler who started as a Dredger Man and by 1850 was a Master Mariner in his own right. In 1856 his entrepreneurial spirit got the better of him and Wheelers Oyster Bar was born. Much later in 1929, a man named Bernard Walsh opened up Wheelers in Old Compton Street, London which went on to be the flag ship for a group of restaurants called Wheelers throughout London. Wheelers Oyster Bar in Whitstable is still standing to this day, steeped with 156 years of history, unlike its counter parts in London who sadly diminished over the years leaving us to be the first and the last one standing.

Gorgeous view and wonderful sunsets
Perched at the top of Tankerton Slopes, The Royal promises a feast for all the senses - serving up sublime fresh food and drink with a side of panoramic sea views. The pub’s garden offers one of the best vantage points in the area and makes a great place to idly watch boats go by with a drink - cask ales, cocktails and world wines providing plenty of choice at the bar. The restaurant, meanwhile, is renowned for delicious British dishes, with a raft of delectable daily specials making the most of local ingredients.
