The railway path begins a steady climb up Glen Ogle passing over a high viaduct. Beyond Killin the long distance route is in the Perthshire Area This is a dedicated cycle route through some of the most beautiful scenery in Scotland. Most of it is on the former line of the Caledonian Railway Company. This was never a terribly successful operation, they were plagued by rock falls on to the line when it went up Glen Ogle and had to send an engine up early in the morning to check it out before they sent the passenger train up. The route is now part of National Cycle Network Route 7: Glasgow to Inverness.

This small stone circle is situated in a pasture field immediately south-west of Kinnell House. Few circles with stones as tall as these are so well-preserved, and it is possible that the good condition of this example owes more than a little to its proximity to the former home of the MacNab of Mac Nab. During the late 18th and early 19th centuries it was fashionable to have antiquities in the parkland surrounding great houses, and the stone circle may have been 'improved' during that period. https://canmore.org.uk/site/24189/kinnell-park-stone-circle-killin-stone-3

Loch Tay is a magnificent dark stretch of water, 15 miles (24 km) long and around 508 ft deep. It’s the largest loch in Perthshire and one of the deepest in Scotland. To the north, the loch is flanked by the impressive bulk of the Ben Lawers mountain range, much of which is designated as a National Nature Reserve. The main A827 road runs high above the loch, west from Kenmore. The contours are gentler on the southern shore and Sustrans Cycle Route Number 7 runs along a quiet unclassified road. https://www.visitscotland.com/info/towns-villages/loch-tay-p253621

In the heart of this small, rural village lies Breadalbane Park. Originally the field was gifted to the village by the Breadalbane Estate, so the community could hold large events. Annually the Park hosts the Killin Highland Games, the Killin Agricultural Show and several other large events, to this end a large swathe of the park has been left untouched although the moveable goalposts can be located here when needed. The Park, in its position adjacent to the McLaren Hall and the Killin Sports Pavilion, is instrumental in providing a compliment of indoor and outdoor facilities both for the villagers as well as for the visitors on whom the local economy depends. The Park provides a space for freeplay as well as organised activities like the Primary school daily mile. In conjunction with the Hall, the Park provides a safe area for the start and finish of several running events. In recent years the Friends of Breadalbane Park have organised and implemented the updating of the drainage system which has made the area more user friendly. Planting fruit trees and a wildflower meadow and benches and picnic tables enrich the visitor experience. The circular walk, is well used and, amongst others, the local Residential Home can take their residents out for walks around the Park. The playpark area at present services the under 8 age group, now they are looking to expand the playpark area, and in consultation with local groups, are working hard to update the playpark provision for older children. https://greenflagaward.org/park-summary/?park=3240

The substantial and gloomy ruins of Finlarig Castle stand on top of a large wooded mound that rises to the north of the minor road that links the north end of the village of Killin to the west end of Loch Tay. Close by are the ruins of the Breadalbane Mausoleum. The site has the River Lochar running to its west and south, and Loch Tay to its east, and it takes only a little imagination to cast back a few centuries and see much of the surrounding low lying land as impassibly boggy. As a result this would have made an excellent defensive site, and although no archeology has ever been unearthed to support the idea, it is thought that Finlarig Castle was only the most recent of a series of defensive structures, possibly dating back into prehistoric times, placed on this site. https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/killin/finlarigcastle/index.html
