If you are travelling from or to the East (Rīga's direction), it's definitely worth stopping on the way - at this place on Grobiņa's roadside. On the menu you will find a variety of tortillias of truly exceptional taste, which is my No. 1 recommendation, as well as a broad range of other quality food.

On the spot there is also a memorial for the first president of Latvia, Jānis Čakste. 7 kilometres from Bernāti there is Pūsēnu kāpa - the highest dune in Latvia.

The best way is to take the tram. There is just one route.
Closest stop: 5 min away. A ticket can be bought at kiosks and shops for 0.90 euros or at the driver for 1.50 euro. There is also a very broad system of bus lines with tickets costing the same. More info: liepajastransports . lv/en

Step out of the apartment, and you are right in the vast park full of things to see and enjoy. Children will like the big and nice playground at the park near the beach. It's possible to buy some ice cream and bubblevaffles there, too.

The youngest generation understands English well. Older people will have a command of either Latvian or Russian, or both, and, if lucky, will be able to communicate basics in English as well.
