Sightseeing

El Castillo de Santa Barbara is definitely a must visit if you are in Alicante. The way up there is a bit steep and during summer we would recommend going early or late because it’s very hot! We recommend walking up as there are many beautiful places on the way up. For those who cannot walk, there would be a lift but due to covid it’s closed and also parking up there is currently closed. You could also take a taxi to drop you off. Definitely worth the view!

If you walk up to the Castillo you will come by this beautiful park. We often come here to read a book or just enjoy the view. There is also a high chance to make new friends (dogs & cats).

This Park is super beautiful! It has a beautiful waterfall, small lakes/pools, some cute cats and turtles (if you are lucky) and of course many palm trees. The park is a bit outside, walking distance is about an hour. There is no public transportation to the park, that’s why we recommend to take a taxi.

Nice place to go shopping. There is per example Guess, Nike, Puma, Mango etc but don’t expect high class brands as Gucci or Prada. You can go there easily with the Tram L2 to „Santa Isabel“ from „Mercado“, which is only about 7 walking minutes away from our apartment.

Not to forget our beautiful beach, playa del postiguet! Our beach is awarded with the Blue Flag recognition by the European Union. You can get there in 10 walking minutes. There are some nice beach bars around to grab a snack and a drink. During summer season you can rent beach chairs and umbrellas. The view from the beach to the castillo is just amazing!

If you enjoy a more beautiful and much bigger beach, I recommend the Playa San Juan. It’s easy reachable by tram (Tram Station „Costa Blanca“) or also taxi if you prefer. It’s more quiet and usually cleaner there rather than the city beach.
