Beaches

If you like large Sandy beaches, Mundsley is lovely, there are 2 chips shops and a sea side cafe so on the quiet side. If you’d like a really big seaside town with an aquarium, 2 theme parks and many arcades, pubs and bars Great Yarmouth beach is a fun day out. Sheringham is an upmarket seaside town with a nice beach and a town more relaxed filled with lots of interesting shops to wonder around and a high street filled with chips shops, tea rooms and ice cream parlours. My favourite beach is “sea palling” it’s an incredibly large beach and when the tide is out you can walk quite far in to the sea as it’s shallow and kids love to go crab fishing and find starfish in all the Little Rock pools dotted everywhere. There is one chip shop, a cafe and a small arcade there also. You’ll need change for parking at all of the beach car parks or some you can download an app and pay on your phone and even extend parking without having to go back to your car. Cromer is a large town and very touristy, large Sandy beach and beautiful gardens running along side next to the beach that extends around half a mile. Great fish and chips, many ice cream parlours and restaurants to choose from as well as shops

NORTH NORFOLK COAST AND COUNTRYSIDE North Norfolk is renowned for its spectacular coastline, fantastic wildlife, miles of glorious beaches, seaside communities and a beautiful hinterland of rolling countryside and picturesque market towns and villages. North Norfolk must be the birdwatching capital of the UK, and you can even take a boat trip to see the seal colony at Blakeney Point.

Norwich Museum

Built by the Normans in the 11th century, Norwich Castle was designed to be a royal palace. While it never served its original purpose, in the thousand years since its construction the castle has been used variously as a military fort, a county jail and, most recently, a museum. Today, Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery is home to collections of fine art, archaeology and natural history, as well as touring exhibitions from national galleries. In 2015, the Museum & Art Gallery ran a highly successful Art Happens crowdfunding campaign to re-gild the frame of one of their rarest and most famous paintings, The Paston Treasure. Permanent collection As the principal museum in Norfolk, Norwich Castle houses the world's greatest collections of Norwich silver, Lowestoft porcelain and work by the Norwich School of artists. The museum's Anglo-Saxon and Viking exhibits, which include a gallery and a reconstruction of an Anglo-Saxon grave site, are accompanied by displays ranging from Egyptian tombs to contemporary design. One of the highlights of the collection is The Paston Treasure, commissioned by Sir Robert Paston in the mid 1670s. It was likely painted by a Dutch artist visiting the family home at Oxnead Hall and depicts objects from their incredible collection. The wooden frame of the painting was spectacularly regilded in 2015 thanks to a campaign hosted on the Art Fund's crowdfunding platform, Art Happens.

Family day out

Wroxham barns is a great day out with a small farm where you can walk around and pet and feed the animals, they often have lambs the children can bottle feed. There is a lovely courtyard filled with some very nice shops and a great restaurant/cafe and a very small kids theme park with a few rides and mini golf too. Wroxham (a town) itself is a day out with boat hire on the broads and lots of shops to wonder around and a few cafes to eat at. Feeding the ducks/swans is something we’ve always done there too.

Beautiful small town to wonder around shops, cafes, restaurants and feed the hundreds of swans. There’s a place to hire day boats too but booking in advance is advised. There’s is “broads tours” that offer river tours during the warmer months too

Look up “Bewilderwood” it will be one of the best parks you and your children will have ever been. It’s based in the woods and has a tree top and ground trail and is across many acres of land. When you arrive you’re taken on a boat down a river and told stories until you arrive at the park itself (there’s a footpath if you don’t like boats) it’s absolutely brilliant for adults and kids. Me and my partner run around the whole thing with our daughter and really enjoy it. They have a few cabin style outdoor cafes and an ice cream parlour but lots of people take their own picnics too. Highly recommend

Sightseeing

The story of the estate unfolds over a thousand years. The landscape with its hedges and narrow tree-lined lanes has changed little over the centuries and is quintessentially Norfolk. Blickling’s owners have used the estate as a place of quiet refuge, while playing their part on the world’s political stage. Philip Kerr, 11th Marquis of Lothian, left this estate to the National Trust in 1940, and he’s vital to its story. Without him, it’s unlikely that Blickling would still be around for you to explore, along with many other places that you love. We invite you to parts of the house he used privately, as well as for entertaining; and photographs, sounds and objects will create a sense of what it would have been like to be a house guest in the period leading up to the Second World War. Don’t miss the RAF Oulton Museum and explore further in to the world of the RAF men and women, based here in the war. Outside, the formal garden is the result of three centuries of inspired planting, and the gently undulating historic parkland is great for exploring. Grab a map of way-marked walks or our cycle trail and head out into the park. Keep your eyes open for lost buildings, stunning views and wildlife who call it home. With three cafes on-site and a pub, there’s plenty of choice as to where to eat. Whether you’re a book worm, plant lover or stamp collector, don’t miss the Blickling shops and gallery selling a variety of local art and crafts
