Market Towns
Voted best place to live in the South West 2024. Handsome and historic market town with a brace of castles and an abbey that glows gold in the morning sun. The Abbey and many of the medieval and Georgian buildings are built from distinctive ochre-coloured ham stone. A popular centre of activity for locals and visitors alike. It is known for its cultural events and festivals as well as its beautiful high street. Cheap Street is home to a wide range of independent shops offering fashion, gifts, antiques, local food, specialist chocolates, wine and more.

With a large number of independent shops and historic buildings, including St Michael and All Angels Church, Somerton is a very attractive small town.
