Our goats are nice but Maryʻs goats are sweet bottle-fed babies. Go check her out, get some goat love, and try her goat cheese and fudge!

I call this turtle town. But you often wonʻt see them unless you snorkel. Swim along the shoreline. They are everywhere. Make sure you are comfortable in the ocean as there is a current and it can feel overwhelming.

Food scene
If you head to Waimea, hit up this amazing bakery. Love, love, love their pastries. They sell out by 10 am though and the line can be kind of long. Go on a Saturday because you can always hit up the Farmerʻs Markets if they sell out before you get to the front of the line!

Their malasadas are so ʻono. Bring some back for me if you go! (Kidding, kidding).
I love their classic malasada but definitely donʻt be shy about trying all the crazy flavors and fillings!

Neighborhoods
This side of Hawaiʻi Island is unique with its lava rock beaches. Head to Keaukaha to the "beach" but donʻt expect warm, saltwater swims. Keaukaha is lined with brackish (mixed freshwater/saltwater) ponds that feel amazing when the Hawaiian sun is a-blazinʻ.
Donʻt forget to use reef-safe sunblock. Try to avoid any ingredients that start with an "O".

Activities
This is one of the better manta ray night snorkeling excursions I've been on! They are professional, knowledgeable but most of all eco-conscious. I would add this to your things to do without hesitation.

If you're staying at our place for the goats, you may want to get this hike in on the other side of the island. The hike is home to herds of mountain goats. Listen and watch as you hike down to the ocean! Wear long pants as this trail isn't always maintained and the elephant grass will slice up your skin without you even realizing it until the saltwater stings your raw skin.
Pack your snorkeling gear; you'll be rewarded at the bottom of the trail. Please pack up your trash and use reef safe sunblock as you'll want to enjoy the marine life here.

A relatively easy, short loop trail to see a pretty majestic waterfall. Be ready to pay for parking and entry unless you have a HI state ID.
