Sightseeing
About a 1 hour drive away in the Talkeetna Mountains between the towns of Willow and Palmer, Hatcher Pass is a local favorite for recreation or a scenic drive. In late summer, there’s terrific blueberry picking up here. And in good weather, you’ll see the Chugach
Range, Alaska Range, and Palmer’s Pioneer Peak.

About a 4-hour drive north (tough as a day-trip--we recommend spending at least one night in the area), Denali National Park is an amazing place to see wildlife, particularly moose, caribou, dall sheep, grizzly bear, and the occasional wolves. In the summer 2022 season, the Denali Park Road will be closed at Mile 43 (about halfway) due to the ongoing the ongoing Pretty Rocks Landslide. We typically see most of our wildlife in the first half of the Park.

City/town information
About a 2 hour drive to the north and one of our favorite places to take friends and family is the historic village of Talkeetna. It is about half way from Anchorage to Denali National Park and is the staging area for Denali climbing expeditions. Talkeetna has an outstanding
panoramic view of the Alaska Range including Denali on clear days. This pioneer town began at the turn of the century as a supply
station for miners and trappers and has maintained it’s rustic
spirit. Talkeetna offers outdoor recreation, flight-seeing trips
to Denali, quaint shops with items produced by local artisans
and a variety of dining options.
