Base Camp Coffee 4548 Marine Ave, Powell River, BC, V8A, CA Best coffee in town.... no contest, great baking too. A cool, hip vibe with local music and art changed regularly. The food is lovely, try our favourites the Curried Tofu Scramble (vegan) or The Eldred: a Prosciutto, fig jam, goat cheese, caramelized onions grilled sandwich to die for. Meet some of the locals and check out the awesome tile work around the bathroom sink, done by my friend, amazing artist Pierre :)

A little diner on the way to Townsite by way of Cranberry. This is what breakfast at your grandma's tasted like. Home made and so good! The decor is quirky and fun, like stepping back in time to a 50's diner with a long soda bar at the front serving banana splits, milkshakes, floats, and sundaes; brightly painted walls, wood floors, and tables in various shapes and sizes. Try the Big Ukranian for a plate piled high with sausage, bacon, pierogis, eggs, hash-browns, toast, sour cream, & grilled onions. They also have excellent pancakes, waffles or french toast.

Located inside the Old Courthouse Inn in Townsite with an eclectic mix of antiques and collectables reminding guests of the days gone by, this is the place you want to go to for an elegant brunch. Eggs are fresh, organic, free-range and local. All meats are hormone and steroid-free, they cold- smoke their own wild salmon and make their own jam. Try Ray’s English Breakfast with one egg any style, fried mushrooms, fried tomato, bacon, English banger, hash browns, home-style baked beans, and choice of bread, or any of their fabulous variations on Eggs Benedict.

This place and 2 other restaurants we recommend are owned by locals Mike and Sarah. These 2 really know what they're doing and you can taste it. Enjoy a warm room with a redwood cedar bar, alder and fir finishing, and a remarkable view of the Strait of Malaspina. Try the Asian Tuna Greens: with local albacore tuna seared rare, organic kale and mixed greens, avocado, oranges, carrots, radish, red onions, sesame ginger vinaigrette or for something more decadent the Duck’en Club Sandwich: Brome Lake duck breast, local chicken breast, crispy pancetta, butter lettuce, dijon horseradish aioli, garlic herb baguette, raspberry mustard, and fresh cut fries YUM!!!!!!!

This is the newest of the 3 concept restaurants Mike and Sarah run. With impeccable hand-made pastas, excellent pizzas, fresh carefully prepared local food . My friend Jean-Francois can often be found in the small open kitchen. Say hello and try his Wild Mushroom Ravioli with beurre blanc, wild mushroom and ricotta, truffle, pine nuts, & grana padano with an Endive & Fennel Salad: Green apple, dates, shaved onion, pine nuts, orange, capers, radish, fresh dill, & garlic anchovy dressing. For meat lovers the Roasted Porchcetta: Braised pork loin belly, wild mushrooms, sautéed pancetta kale, & salsa verde, have it with a glass of Gran Passionne Merlot, fantastic!

A craft beer brewery in a historic Townsite building par excellence! Friends Chloe and Cedric run this fabulous tasting room (she manages, he brews) and it's a must if you love beer. Recipient of multiple awards Cédric loves experimenting with many dierent varieties of ingredients and strains of yeast which are showcased in their diverse line up. Some of which you can drink year round or on a seasonal basis while others are more rare and daring. Some of our favs: Perfect Storm an oatmeal stout, Pow Town a porter, Shiny Penny a Belgian IPA and if you're lucky to be here for it, Lil’ Red 3.0 Wile Ale Blend with brettanomyces!

Awesome curries, perfect rice, koftas, pakoras, OMG the chicken options Butter or Kashmiri both incredibly delicious! The food, the setting, and the hosts are all wonderful. Meander your way to the end of Hwy 101 and you'll find this beautiful restaurant right on Lund Harbour. With lot's of Gluten-free options including their Fish and Chips: choose local Lingcod, Sturgeon (my recommendation), Salmon or Halibut served with a house salad, kennebec fries and their tarragon tartar sauce. Chef Roy is a delight and often sends out the most delicious Amuse Bouche. Try his Pernot Mussels or fab Seafood chowder along with a glass of townsite beer on the deck watching the sun set. Does life get any better than this? We don't think so :)

Come fall, many of the streams that feed into Malaspina Strait teem with spawning salmon. Depending on the year and the spawning cycle, Lang Creek Hatchery and Spawning Channels will be thick with returning salmon. The best viewing is right next to the well-marked pullout on Hwy 101. As sure as salmon return to spawn in late summer, so do raptors and even occasionally a black bear will put in an appearance. Although black bears in the Powell River region tend to frequent the backwoods logging roads, osprey and eagles, otters, and pine marten have no fear of approaching the coastline in search of carrion. Every fall, eagles soar and swoop down Lang Creek, feeding on the glut of spawning chinook salmon.

Super sandy, quiet, and just... chill. Never too many people there. This is the perfect beach picnic, sand castle-building, wading in the water, or even skim boarding type of beach. Great for families and dogs, too.
