Northern Samos is a hiker's paradise of sweeping valleys, vineyards and shady forests. Platanakia is the largest plane tree forest in Samos. The temperature of the area is cooler due to the thick shade of the trees and the running water. You can walk among the trees, listen to the nightingales and to the sound of the steams flowing gently. A great place to take pictures and imagine you walk side by side with fairies.
If you keep on driving towards the top then you will come across to the village of Manolates where you will enjoy a breathtaking view and delicious, traditional, Greek food.

Kokkari is a fishing harbour of Samos Island, which has now developed into a tourist center. Still, it preserves its old traditional face, with small houses and lanes full of flowers. Kokkari is on a small peninsula full of houses which climbs up to the top of the hill with a small harbour on one side and a superb pebble beach on the other. Surrounded by green mountains and the view out to the sea, it's worth a journey.
Near Kokkari are several villages like Platanakia, Valeodates, Staurinides as well as many others, which are all connected with streets or small paths. Hiking paths lead all around the island. Find many hidden pebble beaches, like Tsamadou, Tsambou, Lemonakia close to Kokkari.

Το Κοκκάρι βρίσκεται στις βόρειες ακτές της Σάμου. Πρόκειται για ένα από τα πιο αναπτυγμένα τουριστικά θέρετρα του νησιού και το πιο γραφικό. Πόλο έλξης στο Κοκκάρι αποτελούν τα καλοδιατηρημένα παλιά σπίτια, το μικρό λιμάνι και οι παραλίες (Τσαμαδού, Λεμονάκια και Τσάμπου και άλλες) που βρίσκονται κοντά. Μεγάλο πανηγύρι διεξάγεται στις 27 Ιουλίου, εορτή του Αγίου Παντελεήμονα. Εκεί μπορεί κανείς να απολαύσει το φαγητό του ή το ποτό του πάνω στο κύμα της θάλασσας.

Heraion beach Samos: Heraion is a quaint fishing settlement that was named after the temple of Hera which lies at a close distance to the port. Heraion is located 17km south west of Vathy, the capital of Samos. It has clean waters and it is protected from from strong winds because of the close bay of Pythagorio.
The area around the bay is quite developed with many fishing taverns and cafeterias, located next to the shore. Visitors will also find some small hotels and rooms.
Heraion is an area of special archeological interest but it retains its authentic character despite the tourist crowds. The beach is well-organized providing a water sports center with training lessons for all ages. Pythagorio is the closest location to Heraion.
