Spend a day exploring and wandering around Parc Ciutadella, El Borne and El Gotico. The park has a relaxed hippy vibe, then walk into Passeig El Borne and onto the Gotic area. Get lost in the twisty lanes and the old buildings. There are many cafes, bars in this area and so take lots of pit stops to sit, relax, soak up the atmosphere, drink a Cana (small beer), or a cafe con leche and eat some tapas.

The guidebooks will tell you to go to Barceloneta but it's very busy and touristy and Port Olimpica beaches are still busy but more locals. Nearest Metro: Ciutadella Vila Olimpica, then you have to walk around 10mins.

Best place by a mile in Poble Sec for brunch. They serve between 13.00 and 16.00 on the weekends. They have a great courtyard at the back where you can eat outside.

It's reasonably priced and just short walk from the flat. Be warned it's only open in the summer months.
