A fairly steep uphill climb to the top, but the views are fantastic. You don't have to go into the castle to enjoy the area, there are some nice walking trails around here and a Parador with cold beer waiting at the top too.

Great for a wander and has some great little bars for a drink/food stop. El Carmen market (across the dry river bed) is smaller and less touristy if you're looking some something even more authentic.

A 10-15 min cab ride away, but a really beautiful place to have a proper walk surrounded by pine forest. If you type "Enduro Montes de Malaga" into Google maps this is a good place to start and you'll easily pick up trails from here

The "Hamman al Andalus" is a great place for a little R&R. Spotlessly clean and in a stunning building, it's a good place to wind down from the day. Candlelit at night.
