Food scene
Downtown Farwell. Yes, there is a downtown district. This place is an old "greasy spoon" . Don't let the outside make this a drive by. Find a place to park (worth the walk) and take a step back to the 60's. If you "wanna a burger", you wanna come here. They make 35 different kinds. Take out is excellent, but go in to check out creative daily specials for breakfast, dinner and soups. Servings are generous, the prices are fair and the food is all homemade. Insider hint: Chicken and dumplings are great warmed up for dinner tomorrow... you are on vacation after all.

Full service restaurant and boutique inside an older home. Do a little shopping while you wait for your order to arrive. They will even come find you so your meal doesn't go cold. Who could ask for more? Unique and often local items for sale. Everything is curated with a nod to the "I didn't realize how much I needed that" feel. A wonderful mix of housewares to handbags. After you enjoy a hot breakfast or a daily Penni , take home a whole pie for dessert. Everything is homemade. Enjoy.

Go nuts for doughnuts!
Clare Bakery was within weeks of closing when the members of the Clare Police Department came to the rescue and banded together to save this historic business.
Stop in for a warm fresh doughnut (or a dozen - no judgment here). Stay for a cup of "cops coffee" while you enjoy the police décor and friendly atmosphere. They have a small diner for a quick bite and a complete line of breads, cookies and other tempting - tasty - treats.

A gardening store but so much more. Two parts to the store. One side has wonderful selection of quality fabrics, many crafts supplies, women's clothing and jewelry boutique. The other half is a whimsical garden shop of indoor and outdoor plants and artistic enhancements. Listen for the bird. He has complete conversations with the greenhouse keepers. Give the cat a pet (he is curled up on the counter or anyplace that is warm )and smile for the rest of your day. The fabric selection will not disappoint. It is a destination for quilters clubs.
