Parks & Nature
The wild beauty of Dartmoor national park is not to be missed its beauty has been captured by many an artist. On the 'doorstep' looming over Okehampton is the highest point of Dartmoor High Will Hayes. From this most northern part of Dartmoor is a walk from Cullever's Steps to the pretty village of Belstone. Cullever's Steps is also known for rock pools and wild swimming.
From Belstone you could explore further by driving to Mortonhampstead and branching off from there to Post Bridge & heading for lunch at the Warren House Inn, a pub high up with spectacular views and a log fire that's reported to have never gone out. Chagford is a beautiful moorland town with artisan shops.

The Northcott Theatre in the Exeter University campus, always has memorable productions. A friend invited me to a production called 'The Flying Lovers of Vitebsk', about Marc and Bella Chagall. "Through its exploration of the Chagalls' marriage, consider's the nature of creativity, the personal cost of art, the self-sacrifice involved in supporting someone else's talent and the way that love itself can be an art".

Waitrose & Lidl's Supermarket are on the left as you drive into Okehampton from Hatherleigh. Waitrose have a good offer of a selection of free cakes( including almond croissant) with purchase of a hot drink, these offers are subject to change. Open from 8am, good for a treat for the children, can take away en route to a beach or walk on Dartmoor.
