This is one of my favorite places to eat in Austin. It's a local cafe in a great place with very reasonable prices and it's open 24/7. Try the gingerbread pancakes!!!

I recommend Parkside for a lovely fancy meal, or a very solid happy hour. It's not cheap, but this locally owned bar and restaurant is really really good. Reserve a table if you're going for a meal!

This Mediterranean restaurant has a killer grilled chicken salad at lunch. It's enough for 3 meals and costs $11. There are vegetarian options as well. Try it if you're downtown for lunch.

Thunderbird is my favorite coffee shop(s) in Austin. They serve Cuvee coffee (aka the best) and have beer, wine, and awesome food. The staff is also always awesome. Both locations are superb.

This is a pub/restaurant with free parking in the garage behind it. They have lots of local beers on tap and brew some of their own! The food isn't bad either. It's also on the way to Zilker Park.

This is a cheap and typical East side bar. It's owned by good people and there is a pizza trailer out back. If you find me on the East side, chances are this is where I'll be.

This neighborhood bar is charming. They make some really good, strong cocktails and also have a decent beer selection. There's plenty of outdoor space and pool tables inside.

If you check out a film, Violet Crown is a good place to do it. It's a small indie cinema usually showing films that are hard to find elsewhere. There are cushy seats and good food/drinks available.
