Market Town of Hexham

The picturesque market town of Hexham is about a 5 minute drive from Acomb or a 40 minute walk. It has a lot to offer, many historical and cultural attractions including the Abbey, Old Gaol. You can also explore some of its parks including Tyne Green Country Park down by the river. Or maybe stroll through it streets where you will find lots of some great independent shops and popular well known brands. It also has to offer some top quality restaurants, cafes and public houses for you to enjoy. In Hexham you can also find a cinema, theatre, leisure centre and the well known and popular Race Course.

There are lots of artefacts and treasures that span the ages to explore and learn about its turbulent past. Entry is free and the Refectory Cafe serves delicious home baked scones and cakes.

From the cottage you can do a circular walk, taking you past St John Lee and through some beautiful scenery.

Bellingham is about 15/20 minutes away, this is a fabulous walk there are lots of bridges to cross before seeing the waterfall. Watch out for the Money Tree, take a coin with you and make a wish🙂

Hexham’s parks are really pretty, perfect for taking a picnic and just watching the world go by. Sometimes, in summer time, on a Sunday afternoon there is live music. At Christmas the park is decorated with fairy light and even Santa Claus comes for a visit.
