Quadra Island can be visited on a day trip. It is about an hours drive and a ten minute ferry over to the island. Rebecca Spit is a spectacular park, with an easy walk to the end of the spit. Takes about an hour and a half there and back. Good views of the coast mountains and if you're lucky you might see seals or even whales.
Leave lots of time to catch the ferry in summer time as the ferry can get quite busy.
