The Wrangle-St. Elias National Park, not only one of the most spectacular national parks in the country, but also along the way to other “hotspot” Alaskan destinations; such as, McGrath, Valdez, and–should you decide to go straight at Glenallen on your return trip–Fairbanks.
Travelers tip: This park is not for the faint of heart, many of the trails are undeveloped, and should you decide gorge ahead you will find yourself in some of the most remote country in Alaska. The risk is worth the reward in this regard, as you are likely to see beautiful mountain vistas and lakes, caribou, moose, wolves, lynx, bears and much more!
This is backcountry Alaska. Please remember to properly prepare for adverse weather, injury, and or threats from wildlife.
