Local Activities
Not in any of the area guidebooks but one of the best places to visit for a bit of adventure or a family picnic. We love it! It has small waterfalls, jumping off places, an area of deeper water to swim and a shallow area for paddling.
Directions- Head to Capel Bangor and stay on the road for the Butterfly House (also some great walks here). Keep on this road until it ends-the entrance is on the right.

Aberystwyth is the largest town in the area and has two great beaches. It is full of restaurants and cafes (please ask if you would like any recommendations). There is a cinema and leisure centre if you are looking for indoor activities. It is worth walking up constitution hill, or taking the train for an icecream. Pin Dinas to the south of town is also a brilliant walk with views over the town and coast. You can cycle or walk the Rheidol or Ystwyth Trails from here.

This route is also known as the 'Ystwyth Trail' and starts at the car park next to the football ground; however, it can be accessed from anywhere in Aberystwyth. The route goes across the footbridge over the river Rheidol, before crossing the A487. Following the course of the old railway line for about 2 miles to Llanilar (there is parking here if you start your walk/cycle from this point in the path) the path is flat with the River Ystwyth is on the right-hand side. This is a flat path and great for walkers and bikers (young and experienced). The river here is a great place for a picnic and swim.

We are lucky to have this! This is one of our most favourite places-fun and adventure for the whole family. Ynyslas is part of the Dyfi National Nature Reserve, situated midway between Aberystwyth and Machynlleth. You can walk from Borth to Ynyslas. You can spend the day exploring sand dunes or enjoying the vast beach. There is also a small café and visitors centre.

Cross the road from the pub and walk towards Allt yr Grib forestry. Once through the main gates stay on the path and make the first left (downward – not up the hill). As you walk on this (relatively) flat path there are several small paths leading down to the river. These are great places to spend time paddling and exploring
