Acadia National Park
The Schoodic section of Acadia is 15-20 minutes from the house. The Main section on Mt. Desert island is about 45 minutes to an hour by car. Alternatively, you can take the ferry from Winter Harbor to Bar Harbor.
Along the Schoodic road, you can park at any turnout and choose your own adventure on the granite ledges. This is our favorite thing, and we have several “spots” we venture out to regularly. Schoodic is our favorite section for this reason.
In the main section of Acadia, we like to hike Bar Island, the Beehive, the Bubbles, Sand Beach, and Great Head. Ocean Path is a nice low-key hike.
We also like to do Cadillac Mountain (Don’t forget your car reservation or make plans to take the bus if you’re not hiking). You can also string together all the mountains in that spot for a longer hike. The Sea Wall area is also amazing.
Thunder Hole is great, especially if you have little kids.

Taft Point is a small nature preserve about 5-7 minutes by car from the house. Everything here is beautiful. It’s one of our favorite places. A 10 minute walk through the woods takes you out the shore, and often times, we're the only people there.
