Food scene

The pizzas in this place are the best I’ve tasted. The menu is small but carefully put together using local produce and the flowers on the tables are from the owner’s mum’s garden!

Sightseeing

Slaithwaite, pronounced Slawit to the locals, is quickly becoming a trendy place to be! Anello do the best pizzas. There’s a chippy and Ashby’s chicken. Destination Indian restaurant is voted number 1 by Tripadvisor. Rumpus Burger featured on Countryfile and their cows graze just up the lane. Northern Sole serve classic street food with a bit of a twist. There are some great coffee shops and best not forget The Hand Made bakery who serve Dark Woods coffee that comes from Marsden as does Acorn & Pip which is also a fabulous children’s shop! Cobweb antique shop is great and I can lose myself for hours in the Antique warehouse. Huddersfield Narrow canal runs through the village with good walks along to Marsden and Standedge tunnel.

Ripponden is a lovely little village about 10 minute’s drive away. As well as a reasonable sized Co-op there’s a great selection of good pubs serving food. There’s Ripponden wine shop with a craft beer bar and check out Ryburn vinyl record shop! Elliot’s pizza takeaway is highly recommended and Triangle Bakehouse does great bread, pastries and coffee
