Best Local Bars and Restaurants
This bar is just a short walk away from the cabins and not only serves great drinks, but just recently began serving local favorite bar bites (appetizers, burgers, brats, etc.). Please note most bars and restaurants in the Northwoods only accept cash but generally have an ATM available.

Only about 10 minutes away from the cabins and has the best breakfast in the area! The country fried steak with eggs and gravy is my fave, but they also have an awesome lunch and dinner menus. Reasonably priced with large portions and a huge variety.

Best Nature Reserves and Outdoor Activities
Bog Brook State Wildlife Area
Beautiful nature reserve about 20 minutes from the cabins
This is the biggest and best sandy beach in the area. Lake Metonga is beautiful and very big. The park is large with a playground for the kids and lots of sand to play in but it can be busy on summer weekends. I'd suggest a weekday trip to avoid the crowds.

Best Local Shops and Convenience Stores
The best place for everything local from shirts to cups to antiques, homemade soaps, canned veggies (must try the Arty's Mushrooms if they have them *drool*), spices, and so much more! Not to mention the ice cream! Stop by with the kids, grab a cone or bowl of the best ice cream around, and browse their vast selection. Honestly, I'm not sure how they fit such variety in such a cute little store.

Best convenience store for a quick fill up, snacks, miscellaneous convenience needs, and of course ice! They also have a decent assortment of wine, beer, and liquor.
