The Greater World is the world’s largest off-grid sub division. Located just west of the Rio Grande Gorge bridge, the community contains over 70 Earthship homes. Earthships are houses made out of recycling and reclaimed materials such as tires, bottles and cans. They make all their own electricity from solar panels and harvest rainwater from their roofs. Indoor greenhouses allow residents to grow produce year-round - think bananas and figs in winter! The Greater World Visitor’s Center offers tours of model Earthships every day.

Our favourite trail in Taos ❤️ Starts above the ski valley and ends at Williams Lake at 11000 ft. Moderately intensive, but it’s uphill all the way so carry water!
