DiPasquale's is a great Italian deli/cafe, featuring prepared foods, pastries (cannoli!), truly wonderful sandwiches (prob some of the best in the city) and wood-fired pizzas, espresso drinks, Italian wine and essential ingredients for Italian food prep. Highly recommended, especially their sandwiches, (but double-check their hours before going)- ideal for a picnic to take to Federal Hill Park or Fort McHenry. Also has another, larger location in Canton with sit-down table service and larger grocery section.

Ekiben does Asian-fusion right- amazingly delicious and fairly healthy choices here. Have not had a single bad thing here- truly some of the best food in South Baltimore imo. I never thought I would be excited by tofu, but the tofu nuggets are truly wonderful! Sadly they do not deliver, but very much worth the walk/drive!

SEASONAL- check their website to make sure they’re open! Truly some of the best pizza we’ve had in Baltimore has been from this unassuming pizza truck off Key Highway. Usually a couple of different pies on offer, they are made to order in the truck’s brick oven, and absolutely worth the wait. Play cornhole and enjoy some local brews while you wait; if you’re lucky, the little shaved ice place next door will be open too for dessert.

Neighborhoods

Otterbein is a small neighborhood of historic rowhouses immediately southwest of, and in close walking distance to, the Inner Harbor. The neighborhood is very compact, entirely located between Hanover Street and Sharp Street, and between Barre Street and Hill Street. All of the existing original neighborhood houses were restored in the 1970s as a part of Baltimore’s “dollar homes” urban homesteading program. With historic homes comes highly restricted architectural guidelines, residents enjoy community parks and the neighborhood offers tree-lined streets making Otterbein truly a “one of a kind” community in Baltimore.

From Wikipedia: Federal Hill is a neighborhood in Baltimore, Maryland, United States that lies just to the south of the city's central business district. Many of the structures are included in the Federal Hill Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970. Other structures are included in the Federal Hill South Historic District, listed in 2003. Location The neighborhood is named for the prominent hill that is easily viewed from the Inner Harbor area, to which the neighborhood forms the physical south boundary. The hillside is a lush green and serves as a community park. The neighborhood occupies the northwestern part of a peninsula that extends along two branches of the Patapsco River—the Northwest Branch (ending at the Inner Harbor) and the Middle Branch. This peninsula is generally referred to as the South Baltimore Peninsula, and includes the neighborhoods of Federal Hill, Locust Point, Riverside, South Baltimore, and Sharp-Leadenhall. While not physically a part of the peninsula, Otterbein is also included in the collection of neighborhoods which make up greater South Baltimore. Traditionally, Federal Hill was roughly triangular, bordered by Hanover Street to the west; Hughes Street, the harbor, and Key Highway to the north and east; and Cross Street to the south.
