Industrial area with old shipyard converted into an artistic beehive. Also hosts the biggest flea market (IJ-hallen) in Europe once every month. It is definitely worth it to take a stroll around if you are into this kind of thing. How to get there: take the free ferry behind Central Station to NDSM (leaves every 20 minutes)

Rent a bike and make a half-day trip to Holysloot. One of the few villages I know which is only one dead-end street. There is an old school which was converted into a coffee place, which makes a great stop. You will take in some stunning views along the way with the big lake with sailing boats on your right and green fields with cows to your left for kilometers on end. My best bike-experience here was when a farmer invited me to try and milk a cow and I taste some real fresh milk :)
