You will not be disappointed when you take the old original road that linked central Oregon with the valley. You will travel through a road cut through lava flows and the look out at the top is built from the lava sourced locally. The terrain transitions from the pine tree forest near Sisters to the lush vegetation on the west side of the mountains.

This is a short distance south of Bend in the Paulina peak caldera. There are two lakes, Paulina and East with great fishing and hiking around the lakes. One trail traverses an obsidian flow of black sharp rock. This is a great place to spend a day or to camp.

This is a developed park of approximately one mile square. There are tennis courts, baseball diamonds, walking and biking trails and a dog park that has both on leash and off leash areas.

There is a great area to access the lake for summer swimming and a restaurant that is quaint and localized. The resort stays open throughout the winter as well and is accessible by snow cat or snowmobiles. Fun times.
