You can see the eclectric, earthy side of Toronto here with fresh fruit and veggie markets, funky shops, no shortage of clothing, trinkets and incense from India, Africa, Nepal and more. Music record shops, vintage clothing shops, great mexican and latin restaurants, and tons of bars to choose from. You can also catch great live music, bars with a dance floor, and awesome art installations on the street. They have pedestrian sundays where no cars are allowed to drive there, so you can zigzag across the streets from one store to another and not be worried about getting hit by a car! You can certainly catch DJ's spinning here, or live music!

Yonge Street is the longest Street in the world! Many of the Toronto's most famous shopping and entertainment spots are located along it. The Hudson's Bay and Eaton Centre at Yonge and Queen (take the westbound Streetcar at Queen and Jones) there are movie theatres at Dundas Square, and enough stores in and around the Eaton Centre to keep anyone busy for hours.

The Distillery District is a commercial and residential district in Toronto. Located east of downtown, it contains numerous cafés, restaurants, and shops housed within heritage buildings of the former Gooderham and Worts Distillery. The 13 acres (5.3 ha) district comprises more than forty heritage buildings and ten streets, and is the largest collection of Victorian-era industrial architecture in North America. The district was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1988. It is a really cool area with small shops and restos. All pedestrian walk ways. Feels like the piazza of a small western european town when you walk around the area.

My favourite get-away in the city. An enormous green space, full of trees, many squirrels , a big pond, a tiny zoo featuring beautiful llamas, lots of walking trails and fresh air. Go on a hike! Very safe during the day. (It's a bit too dark and isolated at night to explore. Don't do that.) There is a great cafe in the middle of the park with good food and coffee, open early. If you take the subway to High Park Stn and follow the signs from Bloor St, you will find the cafe. The zoo is near the cafe down Deer Pen Rd. Look for Grenadier Pond. It's splendid. It's true, beavers live in it!! See if you can find the trees with their teethmarks in them!! I was so surprised. Lol!

We lived on a street bordering this park for a few years and fell in love with the parks' vibrancy and multi-purposes. The area is pretty darn cool too! Start by walking around the park, kick a ball around or have a picnic on the green grass, watch people balance on slack lines, hit a ball in the tennis courts or take a skate in the winter on the ice rink. The Trinity Bellwoods Community Centre has an indoor swimming pool (and toddler pool), ping pong tables, indoor walking track, and a gym that has pickup sports and kids play at times. The outdoor play structures are fun, as is the wading pool (although not much shade at high noon). Nearby Lucky Penny is great for a meal/snack after.
