If you want to visit the vineyards, Trigny is a very quaint village just a short 15min drive away. You can find two brothers who sell very reasonably priced, yet "very good" local Champagne. They will be delighted to offer a tasting which you should definitely take them up on. The average bottle costs about 13-14 Euros I remember.
While you are there, you can walk in the vineyard which are open to the public as long as you don't touch the vines. Just follow the main road up and around, you can't miss them.
