Our fav coffee shop in town (not the local fav of Small World though they are great too). Try to donuts (if they have them) and a special drink called the Side Car (a small capp with a shot of espresso). Tell them Rushmore's family sent you, they'll probably know us. :)

Our fav restaurant out of Princeton. Incredible wood-fired pizzas. Great for families. Amazing atmosphere. Great patio for the summer. BYOB (pick up a bottle of wine or some beer downtown before you go). Have a glass in their garden if you have to wait. Hopewell is so charming that it's worth the trip.

Worth the trip and the line moves fast (if there is one). Tip: check out the blackboard to the left of the freezer, it has amazing tips on how to use their ice cream in ice cream sandwiches, milk shakes, etc. Their hot chocolate (only available in the winter) is INCREDIBLE.

Parks & Nature
The institute for Advanced Study is wonderful to check out. On the weekend, park anywhere and walk behind the buildings to find an idyllic pond and amazing walking trails. Great for dog walking (we go off-leash there even though it's not officially allowed). During the week, parking is trickier but try on the neighborhood streets close by.

Walkable from our house but easy to drive and park there too. Wonderful (and not very busy) trails with a series of small ponds that were once used for ice harvesting. Local fact: This land was once owned by the Menendez brothers: yes those Menendez brothers. Again, we go off-leash there but it's technically not allowed.

Wonderful local library with lots of nice places to sit (including fireplaces), free wifi, etc. The third floor is dedicated to kids with lots of space for them to play (e.g., lego table). You don't need to be a member to visit, so enjoy!

This is the main library on campus. To access the main part of the library you need to have a Princeton ID but they have a kids area that you don't need an ID to access. It's very fun to play in and one of those local secrets. :)
