Vedauwoo, just 20 miles east on I-80 has world class rock climbing. It’s a great place to picnic, hike or scramble on rocks. Just off the Happy Jack exit is Tie City, a great place to mountain bike in the summer or cross-country ski or snow shoe in winter. Basecamp, downtown, rents cross country skis for a very reasonable price.
Thirty miles to the west are the beautiful Snowy Mountains. Snowy Range Ski Area is a great place to ski, especially if you have beginner skiers. Prices are very reasonable. Snowmobiling is popular in winter. In summer, hiking, fishing and four wheeling.
