Food Scene

Have drinks at the bar, have apps in the lounge, or a memorable dinner. Rustic fine dining with the freshest ingredients from Maine farmers, fisherman, foragers and cheese makers. Most of the Maine foods are organically grown or harvested wild in season. Reservations for dining are needed. Drop ins for the bar and lounge may have a wait but would be worth it.

My hometown's lobster spot— the best place for lobster and steamers I know of. It is definitely a hike to get there from South Portland (take Route 1 to Biddeford then down Route 9) about 40 minutes south. But worth it. I always go early to get there at 4:30 p.m. for dinner so you are sure to get an early seating. Otherwise there will likely be a line. Classic spot. Head to Cape Porpoise Pier before or after.

Pizza in a spot where time has stood still (70's?). My favorite non-bougie pizza. Individual pies. Get a small root beer and ask for them to use "the old oven" so you'll seem like you have been going there for years.

Old school diner with new school food— features a long counter where chefs Greg Mitchell and Chad Conley are putting their heart and soul into every plate. Try the challah french toast drowned in Maine maple syrup with a brûléed grapefruit on the side. (there may be a wait especially for larger groups since this is a very small diner)
