Central City Shopping Centre (formerly known as Surrey Place Mall) is a shopping mall and office tower complex in Whalley, Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, which is owned by Blackwood Partners Management Corporation. It is near Surrey Central Station of the SkyTrain system in the Whalley neighbourhood. It was designed by Bing Thom Architects. It is the second largest mall in Surrey, smaller than Guildford Town Centre. The mall was constructed in the 1960s. The construction of the Port Mann Bridge and Guildford Town Centre began to challenge the mall's position as a dominant shopping centre. By the 1990s the downfall became great and the mall had lost a lot of its foot traffic and stores became unrented. In recent months, the mall has been affected by the closings of Target and Future Shop. Walmart Canada has now occupied Target Canada's location in the shopping centre.

Parks & Nature

When you explore Bear Creek Park, you'll find the focal point for the arts at the Surrey Arts Centre, the cooling off point for the summer at the outdoor pool and the kids' hot spot at the Bear Creek miniature train. Events are held regularly at the newly-renovated Bear Creek Pavilion. We've even seen weddings in the Bear Creek Gardens, which are open from dawn 'til dusk, year round. You'll also find football and soccer fields and a running track to practice your skills. Or just wander down the nature trails and walking paths and have a picnic under the covered picnic shelter. Just a short walk down the trail and you could see a glimpse of some spawning salmon or trout. Bear Creek Park Train Hop aboard Eddy the Engine and Friends for a special journey through the forest right in the middle of Bear Creek Park! The train leaves the station at 15 min to the hour and 15 min after the hour. For more information, including hours of operation, visit the Bear Creek Park Train & Mini-Golf website or give them a call at 604-501-1232. - See more at: http://www.surrey.ca/culture-recreation/2083.aspx#sthash.7GUYFaBy.dpuf
