Charming Coffee shop 5 minutes away from where I live. Support local businesses! They host music & poetry nights and display local art work on the walls. Food wise, there's something there for everyone! They have an instagram :) @rootsbrooklyn

On Saturdays, go to the Farmer's Market at Grand Army Plaza, grab a home-made pastry, and afterward tour either the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, the Brooklyn Museum or Prospect Park.

Farmer's Market on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. There's an herbal stand that sells a delicious blend of herbal teas as well as other goodies for your face, body, and soul. Then sit in the Union Square park to eat your local food findings in the greenery amidst the urban landscape. In the Christmas time, there are a bunch of artisan booths so you can find the perfect present for all your beloved ones!

Parks & Nature

Whether it's winter, spring, summer or fall, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is always beautiful and definitely worth a visit especially if you're traveling with a youngster. Go visit the brand new water garden or the recently expanded, Discovery garden for kids.

Entertainment & Activities

If you ever feel unzen in such a hectic city, do take the 40 minute ride to this yoga studio. Most classes are heated, and yes they can be intense if you're not used to it...but you might just leave on a yogi high.

Arts & Culture

McNally Jackson is probably my favorite bookstore in the city. It is a small independent bookstore with a charming coffee shop within it. No fuss about taking a yet-to-be purchased book with you to the cafe area to have one of their array of teas as you peruse it. No fuss about using the long wooden table downstairs with benches and chairs to write, read, or whatever other project you're working on, you artist you!
