Fantastic udon noodles, apparently as good as Japan (I haven't been to Japan so wouldn't know, but they are pretty good). You can't book but it is definitely worth the wait.

If you like pizza.. I'd say this is the best in London. Great value, great atmosphere, the original Franco Manco set in bustling Brixton Market. You will need to queue, but worth it!

This is a charming little place that's particularly good to eat outside in summer. It reminds me of my favourite Italian restaurant I used to go to with my family - lovely waiters and great value food

Authentic Italian bakery with authentic Italian service and delicious bread and pastries baked daily. They have a little cafe too at the back of the shop which has just opened.

A beautiful old Georgian square that's lovely to sit and watch people playing boules on a summer weekend. It's really peaceful with a great pub that lets you take your drinks outside on the square.

My favourite park in the area with a well-kept lavender garden that's perfect for lazing in in the summer. There are tennis courts here too.

My favourite park in London, it has something for everyone: a boating lake, zoo, wildlife, and is a beautiful place to have a picnic or go for a run. You can get the bus or overground from Vauxhall.

This is my nearest station, about a five minute walk. You can connect to both branches of the Northern line, both Waterloo (for South Bank) and Borough (for the market) are around a 5 minute journey.

Stockwell station is a ten minute walk or 2 minute bus ride. It is on both Northern and Victoria lines - it's 6 minutes to Victoria and 10 to Oxford Circus.

Although it's a bit further than Stockwell (about a 15 minute walk) I usually use Vauxhall to get the Victoria line as it's a nice walk along Fentiman Road and through the park to get to the station.

If I have a free afternoon I love wandering here. It has a great vibe and is full of the weird and wonderful: Caribbean wig shops next to fish stalls and butchers, along excellent new cafes and bars.

The London Eye, a great way to see across London on a clear day, is on the South Bank about 15 minutes on a bus from me.

You can get a tube or bus to the Shard in 20 minutes. I haven't been but keep meaning to: it's the tallest building in Europe and whatever you think about it apparently the views are pretty good.

Beautiful art gallery in a newly renovated old building. I love it as a historic alternative to the Tate Modern. About 20 minutes walk from the flat along the river (cross at Vauxhall Bridge).

If you want a feel for the old Brixton I really recommend this pub on the street I used to live in when I first moved to London. It has a great vibe with live jazz and good jerk chicken.

If you fancy some fine dining this is the best in Brixton. It's a wonderful little hidden French restaurant only identifiable by a buzzer outside. Space and menu are small but the food is delicious.

Sightseeing

Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament are walking distance from the flat. It's best to walk on the south side of the river to get the view, and then cross over on Westminster bridge to visit close up.
