Fabulous fresh seafood, oysters and fish (try the chowder=fish soup) in a scenic location. We like sitting overlooking the water near the far end of the restaurant.

We love the roasted pumpkin and green salad. A robust and super lunch. The desserts here are to die for, the hazelnut daquoise especially recommended.

Maya and Isis are great people, they focus on local and delicious food, and there are plenty of vegetarian options. Especially recommended: Baked beans as a main and their chock-full-of fruit bread, toasted, anytime. The homemade cold drinks are very refreshing, eg elderflower fizz. Open Tues-Sat 8-2:30 and public holidays.

This little place is quaintly located in the old New Town station, surrounded by the nursery. The food is yummy, and all desserts are homemade. The scones and tea are highly recommended, but all their food is delicious.

This is a beautiful quiet place to walk at the foot of Mount Wellington. You may see animals and you will see our rivulet (little river). You can also see the historic Lady Franklin Gallery (only open on weekends but the building is well worth seeing from the outside.

This is a great volunteer-run museum, through which you will learn a heap about early Tasmania, its wrecks and seafaring past. Especially to be seen is the after cabin of HMS Otago, author Joseph Conrad's last ship, the hull of which can be visited at Otago on the other side of the river (take the Bowen Bridge to get there).
